MUSIC : WHACK! : 1992-1994
Solid yet inconsequential four-piece made up of Chris Valle on guitar, me on bass (both formerly in Sub Society) plus professional skateboarder John "The Man" Reeves on vocals and Mike Alzona on drums. We performed in San Diego clubs from 1992-1994 and made some fine tunes for a group with such a poorly chosen moniker. The name was supposed to conjure images of the comic book sound effect "WHACK!" -- as in getting hit by something really hard -- but the name was ruined by the Hip Hop term "wack" which had negative connotations. Knowhatimsayin'? Mike, JTMR and I vied for the name Chronicle but Chris wasn't having it. Most heads don't know that Stimy from Sub Society (Inch, Congress Of The Cow, Harvey Knuckles) was the original singer and Zak Najor (Greyboy Allstars) was the original drummer. It may as well as been called The Chris Valle Band as most all of the songs were written and produced by him. Clashing egos usually ruined recording sessions. The demo was recorded at Stimy's home studio and produced by Stimy and Chris. The Vinyl Communications Session was recorded in Chula Vista at the VC studio and produced by Stimy and Chris.
