MUSIC : GANGLION : 1995-1999

Literally meaning "a bundle of nerves" in medical vernacular the term Ganglion, as a play on words, becomes the appropriate nom de plum to set the tone for the jittery soundscapes that comprise this catalog of recordings. The collection below consists mostly of repetitive aural themes with little structure where bleeps and blips are as standard as beats and bass.

Defiantly low-fi and firmly outside the mainstream Ganglion output is best catagorized as "ambient punk". The individual songs can create uncomfortable moments that alternate being tense, scary and alien-like as if they were from soundtracks to horror movies yet to be made. The collection of albums paint pictures that are bleak, jagged and uninviting except to the antisocial.

with the exception of 100 zillion samples that I didn't keep track of because the demos were just an exercise and not intended for release. There are too many samples to figure out... "Sosumi".

Most every track was recorded 8-bit at 22 kHz because of RAM and HD limitations of the Apple 5400. Some cuts from '96 & '97 were done at 11.1 kHz on a Apple IIci. All tracks were recorded, arranged, processed and mixed down with SoundEffects 0.9.2 and a calculator.
